CIE and ISRA Sign a Landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

The Center for Islamic Economics (CIE) and International Sharia Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA) – have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Sunday, 18 March 2018 at Jamia Darul Uloom Karachi Pakistan.


This MoU uniquely draws on the expertise and standing of the Pioneer Islamic Economic Center in Pakistan’s Islamic Finance industry “CIE” and a those of a prestigious international organization that is Hub of knowledge and research for Islamic Finance around the world; the MoU includes a group of technical and professional activities, and reflects the intention of both parties in enhancing mutual interests in the sustainable development /exchanges of the  Education and research locally and internationally; enhancing professionalism; Academic visits incorporating short term visits of scholars; Joint research and development activities, in Islamic Banking and Financial area; Participation and co-sponsoring of international conferences, seminars, workshops, and trainings; and expanding opportunities for in getting various internationally recognized fellowships for the enhancement of their career prospects; and ultimately to further the profession and the wider economy.

On the occasion Honorable Sheikh Mufti Taqi Usmani “Hafizahullah” – Chairman of CIE - commented prior to the signing of the MoU that "the MoU expresses our intention to cooperate and collaborate with ISRA within the scope of our respective mandates and areas of competences for mutual benefit of both ISRA and CIE.”


Respected teacher Sheikh Dr. Imran Ashraf Usmani - Director, CIE - considered the MoU signing a significant step and stated: “we are pleased with this professional and distinctive partnership as it comes at a time of a great expansion in the global Islamic finance industry, as well as the increasing interest from the Islamic finance industry and the move towards proper research in the area of Islamic Finance and its improvement on international level; this creates increasing demand for prestigious fellowships in the Islamic finance industry and thus the cooperation between ISRA and CIE in this area will have a positive impact internationally”. Dr. Usmani further stated that Mufti Najeeb Khan & Khalid Hasani shall stay in touch with Prof. Dr Akram in order to promote cooperation and to pursue forms of collaboration.
